Become a Volunteer

CEWIL 2026 is coming to Ottawa, ON, May 19-22, and we’re gearing up for a conference full of inspiration, learning, and connection. Every great conference starts with a passionate team — and that’s where you come in! Volunteering for CEWIL 2026 is your chance to play an active role in shaping the event, contribute your expertise, and help create an unforgettable experience for delegates from across Canada.

Whether you’re a seasoned conference veteran, a new voice in the WIL community, or somewhere in between, there’s a place for you.

Program Committee

Review proposals and help select concurrent sessions.
Support the creation of a program that reflects trends, innovations, and wise practices in work-integrated learning.
Ensure the program is relevant, diverse, and impactful for all attendees.
Time Commitment: Volunteers will each review 12-15 proposals in November/December and meet for 2 hours in January 2026 to discuss shortlisted sessions; Further input is requested via e-mail on the final list of presentations, the schedule, and other program-related aspects.

Social Committee

Plan networking and social events that bring delegates together.
Brainstorm creative ideas for receptions, mixers, and community-building activities.
Help make the conference fun, memorable, and welcoming.
Time Commitment: Social volunteers meet once monthly for 1-1.5 hours; Interest and ability to lead an activity at the conference.

Accessibility Committee

Help ensure sessions, spaces, and materials are inclusive and accessible.
Recommend accommodations or adjustments to increase access and remove barriers.
Help create an environment where all participants can fully engage.
Time Commitment: Volunteers meet once monthly for an hour;

Sponsorship Committee

Brainstorm organizations and contacts for securing sponsorships to support the conference.
Connect with organizations, help showcase the value of the CEWIL 2026 conference, and make requests to potential sponsors.
Contribute to a financially sustainable and successful conference.
Time Commitment: Volunteers meet once monthly for an hour; Further time will be needed to conduct outreach and follow-up.
